When most individuals think about running, its either they love it so much or they hate it entirely! For some, including myself on some occasions, its a LOVE/HATE relationship! But for most people, the idea of running is totally out of the question, or they hate running but still choose to do it! One thought that may come to your head at this point is how can one hate running but still choose to do it? I'm almost certain that for those individuals, the benefits they get from running far outweigh the loss or disadvantage they get from not running.
You're probably thinking right now how can running benefit me besides losing weight here and there. Well I'm here now to show you that there's plenty of benefits from running and here are just a few of my top reasons to start running!
1. RELIEF OF STRESS
In today's society, we suffer through this thing called stress! Stress can either be a physical, mental, or emotional strain weighing us down in life that can lead to headaches or bad moods. Running allows you time to solve these problems. It gives you freedom to escape from what it is that's been holding you back. What can be better than a hour run with yourself or a pet to clear your mind and allow you to answer those problems? That time with yourself can be exactly what you needed! Sprints and faster runs are great for working through aggression and pain! When you are mad, do about 10 -12 sprints and you'll feel better in no time!
2. STRENGTHENING THE MIND
I am one to believe that running can definitely strengthen the mind just as well as it strengthens the body! Running makes individuals overcome boundaries that they didn't think they could break down. Through running you learn how to key in on goals, focus, and add determination. That IT FACTOR (different for a lot of people) that gets you through those 1-5 mile runs is what strengthens your mind and gives your focus in other areas in your life.
3. BECOMING CONFIDENT IN YOUR OWN SKIN
Aside from the benefit and fact that running improves and maintains general health, becoming more confident in your own skin is the most important benefit! Running allows you to breakdown boundary after boundary, accomplish goal after goal, and defeat trial after trial! This allows you to grow stronger as a runner and a person in general! The stronger you become as a runner the more self-esteem you will develop. Having that sense of always defeating the unbeatable really provides an individual with the feeling of empowerment.
